There could be 100’s of possible interview questions that an interviewer could ask our candidates so it’s impossible to give them every single interview question but I believe that if you know answers to key employer questions that revolve around 3 things, 1 what can you add to my business if I employ you, 2 What do you feel you can offer that makes the team better, 3 What can you offer us a business.

1. What can you add to my business if I employ you?

  • Focus: Emphasise your unique value proposition.

  • Preparation Tips:

    • Research the company’s goals, challenges, and industry trends to align your skills with their needs.

    • Highlight specific achievements, skills, or experiences that demonstrate your ability to contribute to business growth, efficiency, or innovation.

    • Use evidence-based answers (e.g., "In my previous role, I increased sales by 20%, and I believe I can bring a similar impact to your company").

2. What do you feel you can offer that makes the team better?

  • Focus: Show you're a team player who elevates the group.

  • Preparation Tips:

    • Share examples of past teamwork, such as resolving conflicts, collaborating on projects, or mentoring colleagues.

    • Highlight personal traits that enhance team dynamics, like communication, adaptability, or problem-solving.

    • Demonstrate an understanding of the company’s team culture and values by aligning your strengths to complement the team.

3. What can you offer us as a company?

  • Focus: Present yourself as a well-rounded, motivated candidate.

  • Preparation Tips:

    • Combine personal attributes, such as work ethic and passion, with professional skills that address the company’s needs.

    • Show a commitment to the company’s mission and how your career goals align with theirs.

    • Provide specific examples of how your expertise can tackle challenges or capitalise on opportunities the company faces.

General Advice for Candidates:

  • Structure Responses with STAR: Use the Situation, Task, Action, Result method to give concise, impactful answers.

  • Adaptability: Remind them to listen carefully to the interviewer and adapt their responses to the specific question being asked.

  • Practice Makes Perfect: Encourage mock interviews to refine their delivery and build confidence.

  • Be Authentic: Employers value honesty and enthusiasm. Candidates should be genuine in their answers and let their personality shine through.

By focusing on these three overarching areas and preparing to answer them with confidence, you will be equipped to tackle most interview questions successfully.
